Felix Bornholdt
Hailing from Aotearoa New Zealand, Felix moved to Sydney in 2014 where he studied Jazz Piano Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium, graduating with First-Class Honours in 2017 and receiving the Sydney Improvised Music Association’s Sonic Futures award. For nearly eight years Felix was a touring and recording member of Australian pop outfit Lime Cordiale, receiving two ARIA awards for Best Live Act (2021) and Breakthrough Artist (2020).
On top of several years touring the UK, Europe, US, Canada and Japan, Felix maintained composing and performing work as a solo artist and as a member of Sydney electronic trio Bike Thief. In 2023 he released his debut solo piano record Man Overboard. In 2024, after close to a decade on the road, Felix traded in his bunk on the tour bus for the slightly more spacious composing studio at Rumble.

Selected Work

A personified thumb, erratic and possessed, almost untameable. An ordinary situation turned sinister as it darts and whips with a mind of its own, moving compulsively until its abrupt restraint.

Luxury is warm and sultry, it draws us away from the mundane and toward the hot and the steamy, the gustatory and the gourmet. Rich with indulgence and impossible to resist, who knew a meat pie could be so sensual?

Protection isn't seen, it's felt. The wind plays with wooden chimes, flaps laundry and teases flocks of birds. Autumn leaves chase a car that drifts off course before the vehicle’s intuitive safety response intervenes.

The stakes are high, the scale is vast, the crowd is ready. From every corner of the globe, a chorus of different influences come together; each one thunderous and determined, all competing for the same moment to be heard. By the final note, only one will be left standing.
