Music

In creating the sonic world of our Zalunians, we drew inspiration from classic Sci-Fi films. We used analog and modular synths to enhance the otherworldly feel while playing into the dramedy of their unleashing of the ‘Scammagedon’.

We recorded the ‘tongue choir’ in a large studio hall to match the reverb of the spaceship and recorded harmonies that each had their own meaning. The opening was a call to arms, a rallying call to hail the leader of the Zalunians with a full spectrum of singers. On our tight shots, we switch to the close mics, to make out the individual ‘tonguing’ of each character. After the (inevitable) failure, the tongue singing takes a more downhearted turn, with our singers singing more timid and in a lower register.
